Lagos council is to invest over €1.3 million euros in contracting external services to maintain the municipality's urban green spaces. In a statement the council said “the recovery of construction sites and the enhancement of the county's gardens, with the change of plants depending on the time of year (…) are some of the characteristics of this new procedure that ultimately aims to affirm Lagos as a greener, but also more flowery municipality”. The new service contract will start in the last quarter of 2021 and will continue until 2024.
Well done! I hope Praia da Luz (where I have recently made my home) will benefit from these measures. We are part of the municipality of Lagos, but often feel like the poor cousin. It would be good to involve the local community in this project. There are a lot of locals who care a great deal about our village and surroundings, have been involved in beach cleanups etc, and would like to be actively involved.
