The President of the Republic will safeguard the free movement of citizens to exercise their vote in the presidential elections in the new State of Emergency diploma, which also provides for voting in nursing homes. The new measures, due to come into effect from midnight tonight until January 30, are widely expected to be more restrictive and similar to the national lockdown of last March and April. This will be the ninth state of emergency diploma that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has submitted to parliament in the current context of the 19-covid pandemic, and is being discussed and voted on by MPs this morning.
