The Portimão Arena pavilion has been transformed into a field hospital to receive Covid-19 patients from all over Portugal. On Sunday afternoon it received four more patients from Setúbal. With a capacity for 100 patients, it is already around one third full, with 30 patients. The Portimão field hospital was set up by the civil protection in facilities belonging to Portimão council. It was set up about 10 days ago to relieve pressure on the region’s and other hospitals.
This field hospital was erected during the first wave, I think it was April 2020. It has not been reopened.
