According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere, Madeirans experienced a tropical night, with minimum temperatures always above 25 degrees. The city of Funchal was the one that recorded the highest minimum temperature, with 25.9 degrees in the morning. Next comes Quinta Grande, with 25.3 degrees. The coldest region was Ponta do Pargo, with 20.7 degrees, according to Diário de Notícias Madeira.
Between 1981 and 2010, in Funchal, the average maximum temperature for November was 22.7 degrees, according to the “Luso Meteo” comparison. In other words, current temperatures are around 6 to 8 degrees above average. The maximum value recorded in Funchal, in the period mentioned, was 29.5 degrees, on November 20, 2006.
Although a small drop in temperature is predicted, the heat is expected to continue into next week, as forecasts call for highs of 26 degrees on Monday 11th November and 25 degrees on Tuesday 12th.
