The DGS epidemiological bulletin also reveals that 3,322 patients are hospitalised (six more than on Sunday), of which 627 are in intensive care, a reduction of 11.

On October 6,427 cases were reported.

New cases of infection in the last 24 hours represent half of the new cases reported on Sunday. As a rule, Mondays register lower values.

As for the number of deaths, since November 10, the day on which 62 people died with covid-19, Portugal has not registered such low values.

As for hospitalisations, today's value is close to those recorded on January 7, when the data indicated 3,333 people hospitalised with covid-19.

The data released today also indicates that 2,187 people were reported to have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered to 701,409 since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal, in March 2020.

For 22 consecutive days, the number of recoveries exceeds that of new infections.

Active cases in Portugal continue to decline. Today Portugal has 80,642 active cases, minus 1,699.

Since March 2020, Portugal has recorded 16,023 deaths associated with covid-19 and 798,074 cases of infection by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Health authorities have 79,699 contacts under surveillance, 6,702 less than in the previous day, with a downward trend since January 30.

According to the latest data from the Directorate-General for Health, Portugal currently has administered 680,257 vaccines: 432,414 with the first dose and 247,843 with the second dose.
