According to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), 744 people are now hospitalised with Covid-19, 24 fewer than on Monday, 144 of which are in intensive care, 10 less.
The Lisbon and Vale do Tejo area, with 727 new cases and the North region, with 775, have 70.9% of the total of new infections verified in the last 24 hours.
The deaths occurred in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region (4), in the North region (2) in the Centre region (2), in the Alentejo (2) and in the Algarve (1).
Regarding the ages of the victims, the bulletin records that three were over 80 years old, seven between 70 and 79 years old and one between 60 and 69 years old.
Regarding the age characterization of new confirmed cases of infection, it is in young people between 20 and 29 years (men and women) that there were more cases, with 575 more infected in the last 24 hours.
The following are the age groups between 10 and 19 years old (443 new cases) and between 30 and 39 years old (270 new cases).
Data released by the DGS also show that there are 1,559 fewer active cases, totalling 43,745, and that 3,666 people were reported recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the national total to 945,259 recovered.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, 17,584 people have died in Portugal and 1,006,588 cases of infection have been registered.
The region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with the notification of 727 new infections, has so far accounted for 392,841 cases and 7,521 deaths.
In the Northern region, 775 new infections by SARS-CoV-2 were registered, totalling 388,183 cases of infection and 5,472 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
In the Central region there were 265 more cases, accumulating 133,854 infections and 3,064 deaths.
In the Alentejo, over 131 cases were reported, totalling 35,551 infections and 1002 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
In the Algarve region, the bulletin reveals that 174 new cases were registered, accumulating 36,731 infections and 414 deaths.
The Autonomous Region of Madeira registered 43 new cases, totalling 11,199 infections and 72 deaths due to Covid-19 since March 2020.
The Azores now have three new cases, accounting for 8,229 cases and 39 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information published in the DGS bulletin.
Of the total number of fatalities, 9,230 were men and 8,354 women.
The greatest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.
Of the total deaths, 11,490 were over 80 years old, 3,768 were between 70 and 79 years old, and 1,595 were between 60 and 69 years old.
The incidence rate of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infections in the last 14 days decreased on Monday in the continent and at the national level, while the transmissibility index (Rt) increased again from 0.95 to 0.96.

Whoever you are in lisbon, STOP blaming UK citizens from causing the increase.
Try looking at your own people coming down from Lisbon to the Algarve or the huge numbers of French down here.
You need to look at the wider picture, you are so obviously anti British, just remember we put a lot of money into yor economy.
