The measure was announced by the minister of State and the Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva, replacing the Prime Minister during his holidays, at the end of the Council of Ministers extraordinary meeting.
According to the minister, this measure is part of the second phase of the ease of lockdown, as 70 percent of the population are now vaccinated against Covid-19, and takes effect as of 23 August.
Currently, with regard to the number of people per table in restaurants, cafes and bakeries, the rule is six people per table inside and 10 people per table on the terraces.
According to the minister, in this second phase of the ease of lockdown restrictions, cultural shows will have 75 percent capacity (at the moment they limited to 66 percent capacity), as well as events such as weddings and baptisms.
Imagine actually believing that these regulations actually accomplish anything! People are so easily fooled! They have been so brainwashed with fear that they have completely lost the ability of critical thinking!

LAT - the Government has to implement these strict measures as there are always those who think they are made of Teflon and don’t need to follow the rules!

These measures would make sense if there was enforcing of any kind.
The Portuguese government keeps playing politics and taking 1 step forwards, 2 steps back. We could be in a much better situation byy now if only we followed the example of New Zealand, Australia, even Taiwan, who've been able to live normal lives for several, because they understand the severity of the situation and act appropriately, ignoring conspiracy theorists and uninformed political commentators.
Instead we have these half-a**ed, which I see very few establishment applying (too many people in cafes sitting literally back to back. I've lost count of the times I turned my back as soon as I see the café, or even supermarket, full as it is), which allied to misinformation and disinformation, are making it so that a few of us believe this is all a scam, and keep being asymptomatic vectors for mutations which will inevitably reduce vaccine efficacy.
To anyone actually interested in knowing as many true things and a a few false as possible, and intellectually honest enough to admit they might not know something other people have dedicated whole lives to studying - Making Sense podcast #256 and the following Ask me Anything #17 do a great job of conveying good information from actual anti-bigpharma experts on the matter.
The Dunning-Kruger in these comments sections is borderline depressing
