“In 2020, the FIA Lisbon was not held because the safety conditions relating to the containment of the covid-19 pandemic were not met, and it was necessary to postpone the fair on the dates initially foreseen in 2021. The AIP Foundation sees the holding of what is the most representative handicraft fair in the Iberian Peninsula as a serious and conscientious bet in returning to this sector’s former path before the pandemic and with high expectations that this represents a turning point in the development of economic activity, knowing what it represents for the national crafts and for its artisans”, announced the AIP Foundation, which promotes the FIA through Lisbon - Fairs, Congresses and Events, with the support of the Employment and Professional Training Institute (IEFP).

The 33rd edition of FIA Lisbon, which will take place at the Lisbon International Fair (FIL), the organization stated, “will be an edition adapted to the current situation” and will have “discounts on entrance tickets that will be, on average, 50 percent less, compared to the last edition of 2019”, with the objective of “encouraging the presence of visitors and buyers of national and international handicrafts”.

In addition to investing in the development of the sector's economic activity, "which is also very much affected by the pandemic", the organization intends to "also bet on the dissemination and promotion of national handicrafts and gastronomy, a gateway to the tourist promotion of the regions, which are represented in the FIA Lisbon for its artisans”.

In order to guarantee safety measures, within the scope of the covid-19 pandemic, the organization has implemented a contingency plan, drawn up based on the recommendations of the General Directorate of Health (DGS), with an expanded exhibition area. In addition, capacity will be limited and entry into the FIA will only be permitted upon presentation of the European Union (EU) Covid Digital Certificate or a valid negative test.
