“Sonae SGPS informs that its subsidiary Sonae Food4Future has completed the acquisition of 95.4 percent of the share capital and voting rights of Claybell Limited, which holds 100 percent of Gosh Food Limited, which it markets under the brand name 'Gosh!', for a total value of 64 million pounds (€75 million)”, reads a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM).
Following this operation, Gosh!, a plant-based food products company, will continue to be managed "by the current team", with a minority stake of 4.6 percent.
The UK-based company totalled a normalised turnover of £22m (€26m) for the fiscal year ending May 2021.
In the document, Sonae also states that the operation is in line with its portfolio management strategy.
“[…] The transaction allows Sonae to invest in the attractive plant-based natural food industry, leveraging its 'know-how' [knowledge] in the food and retail sectors in order to accelerate the company's value creation plan”.
