The initiative, announced by the Oceano Azul Foundation, consists of more than 150 terrestrial and underwater actions.
In this third edition, more than 1,300 students will participate in the “Educate for a Blue Generation” programme, according to the organisation.
Since the beginning of this initiative, in 2019, 134 tonnes of marine litter have been collected in more than 800 coastal cleaning actions, which involved more than 14,000 volunteers and 200 organisations.
To the fishermen that are suddenly caring about the beaches and coast
Please don't leave your tangled lines strewn across the cliffs and beaches where birds can get caught up and suffer terribly.
Please stop throwing your broken ropes and other litter into the sea, which washes up all over the coast
Please stop leaving your plastic bait boxes, empty beer and wine bottles as well as discarded food tins everywhere.
The problem with a large amount of fishermen is they take, take, take and give nothing back.
