According to data, within the group of people over 65 years old, 38.8% of the elderly aged 80 and over said they had already been vaccinated against the flu.

Promoted by the Portuguese Society of Pulmonology (SPP) and the Portuguese Association of General and Family Medicine (APMGF), with the support of the biopharmaceutical company Sanofi Pasteur, the “vacinometer” allows real-time monitoring of the coverage rate of vaccination against influenza in priority groups defined by the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

During this flu season 2021/2022, about 16% of chronic patients have also been vaccinated, as well as 32.2% of health professionals in direct contact with patients and 9.9% of Portuguese aged between 60 and 64 years.

"In the analysis carried out, we also highlighted the protection of pregnant women, with a vaccination coverage of about 41.3%, and 35.9% of the surveyed pregnant women who have not been vaccinated still intend to do so".

Of the group of vaccinated people, 41.7% chose to receive the vaccine due to a doctor's recommendation, 30.2% in the context of a work initiative and 19.9% ​​on their own initiative, because they seek to be protected against the flu virus.
