Workers who earn the national minimum wage will have half of next year's increase cancelled due to inflation, which in November reached 2.6%.
According to Jornal de Notícias, the remaining workers will feel a loss of purchasing power, as the increase in average wages will be equal to inflation and the average gain dropped by 1% until September.
The minimum wage has increased by almost 11% in the last three years and, in 2022, it rises even more: 6% to 705 euros. But since 2019, the remaining wages have risen. Average base income rose 3.4%, while average monthly earnings grew 7.7%, but fell 1% through September this year.
