According to Publituris, Airline Sevenair has reopened the regular air connection to the city of Vila Real after the Vila Real aerodrome had been closed to commercial flights since July 2019. For safety reasons, its use by fixed-wing aircraft was prevented, causing disruption to the regular passenger transport service between Bragança, Viseu, Cascais and Portimão.
Until the interruption of flights in 2019, the stopover in Vila Real had one of the highest demands in terms of traffic. Before the closure of the aerodrome, Sevenair had about 86% of the plane's occupancy, with capacity for 18 passengers. “Without the stopover in Vila Real, occupancy stood at 45% in recent years, resulting in a loss of many passengers with a consequent economic impact on the region itself”, says the airline.
