All badly built, with zero design for functional living. All freezing cold in the long winters and scorching hot in the unbearable hot summer months. How can other countries build homes for dignified living but Portugal cannot?

With the continuous drought all new buildings should not be allowed to have a pool. If people want to swim they can swim in the Atlantic. I never see people in a pool because it is simply to windy in the Algarve for a swim in a pool.

Crikey! Apparently, Portuguese homes are “All badly built, with zero design for functional living.”, and pools should be banned in the Algarve “because it is simply too windy in the Algarve for a swim in a pool”. Why stop with pools? Perhaps build homes without baths, showers and toilets (we can use the Atlantic). Some vehement and over zealous opinions here.
So many people love their beautiful Portuguese homes (all year around), and love swimming in their pools in the Algarve (and in the Atlantic). And still plenty more that cannot wait to join us to enjoy the wonderful Portuguese and Algarvian lifestyles. Please do not be put off by the negative comments above.

Pools? Hardly needed for dignified living! Yet, the water is sorely needed in the very areas where pools see to be built. Do your research before choosing Portugal as a residential option. You’d be surprised at how good it is in certain areas, and appallingly bad in others.
