The decision to question the guardianship of the Correios de Portugal service was taken by the Porto Metropolitan Council after the mayor of Valongo, José Manuel Ribeiro, reported the “numerous complaints” about CTT that the municipality has received.
“Serious problem”
“There is a very serious problem with the postal services and the law has to be valid for something. There are unacceptable delays, such as bills that arrive after payment deadlines, delays in letters from hospitals, among others,” he said.
According to the mayor, “if it were a private company with no public service obligation, the law of the market would solve it, but this is not the case”.
“We have to demand that this issue be monitored because there is a large part of the population that depends on the proper functioning of these services, namely in the payment of pensions, subsidies or sick leave”, he stressed.
Other mayors present at the meeting of that body, which brings together 17 municipalities, also expressed concern about the “bad service” provided by CTT, for which reason it was decided to ask for explanations.
“The Executive Committee will write a letter to the tutelage asking for explanations”, announced the president of the AMP, Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues.
Bad service???? There is NO service.

It is not just bad, is extremely negligent and unpolite. Wether it was the privatization or not, the service is of terrible standards.

You are not special Porto, CTT don't reserve poor service just for you , everybody gets it.

It's the finances fault who send out fines with no information what the fine is for, then 2-4 days later send a letter saying what the fine is for. 2 letters for each fine, pure waste of taxpayers money , waste of time energy and fuel and materials besides clogging up the postal service and putting folks under unnecessary stress of waiting to find out what the fine is for, all totally disgusting.

I live in the Algarve and have been waiting and anticipating very important mail with no results. I have been to three CTT locations asking to verify my address and if they have my mail. I still get know results. It's the worst experience and service that I have ever encountered.

Living in Seia that is most definitely not my experience AT ALL . I know the drivers by name the delivery office is always very helpful going above the call of duty. When on holiday in the Algarve last year had a registered envelope delivered to us with no problem. Is it my imagination but is it usually the Brits complaining?

Brexit has made it all so much worse! I now longer enjoy sending mail to the UK or receiving it, and I am not alone! Delays and Customs Clearance charges are part of the "New Normal"

My post box just fills up with junk mail which is delivered by ctt. Stop delivering junk mail maybe normal mail will be delivered quicker. Plus less rubbish and trees cut down

It is not just the Brits it is everyone. Even the staff say you should send items by DHL.
