This measure aimed at extending the free youth pass to all young people up to 23 years old, regardless of whether they are studying or not, was announced by the government in October and was scheduled to come into force in November.

“From now on, simply present your identity card, as proof of age, to access this”, says the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing.

This measure involves an investment of 40 million euros and the Government estimates that it will reach around 240 thousand potential beneficiaries.

“The extension of this pass to a greater number of young people is an invitation that we launch to this generation to join public transport and adopt green mobility as a way of being”, pointed out Minister Miguel Pinto Luz, cited in the same note.

This was one of the 13 measures included in the Green Mobility Package, which was approved by the Council of Ministers, on October 4th, with a total planned investment, until 2025, of 115 million euros for passenger transport and 55 million for goods.
