The campaign, under the responsibility of the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), the National Republican Guard (GNR) and the Public Security Police (PSP), ran from April 26 to May 2 and was aimed at alerting drivers to the risks of speeding, one of the main causes of road accidents.

According to ANSR, 2,004,836 vehicles were inspected for speed control by radar, 85% of which by SINCRO – National Speed ​​Control System.

Of the vehicles inspected, 14,586 were speeding, of which 6,463 were detected by the Security Forces' radars and 8,123 by the ANSR.

During the campaign period, in mainland Portugal, there were a total of 1,831 accidents, resulting in eight fatalities, 28 serious injuries and 419 minor injuries.

Compared to the same period in 2021, there were 274 fewer accidents, six more fatalities, four fewer serious injuries and 219 fewer minor injuries, according to ANSR.

The accidents at the origin of the fatalities occurred mostly in the districts of Bragança, Braga, Aveiro, Viseu, and also in the districts of Lisbon and Beja.
