A report by eDreams found that the majority of bookings
registered on the platform indicate that the Portuguese are opting for national
destinations for their summer holidays, while when it comes to travel abroad,
most preferences are in Europe.
Funchal, Ponta Delgada, Lisbon and Porto are, according to
eDreams, the most chosen cities to visit this summer, while abroad most of the
bookings are for France, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
eDreams also states that the majority (36%) of travellers
will stay in destinations for around three to four days, “which is indicative
of a preference for a relatively short vacation”, while 26% will spend between
seven to 13 days of vacation, 19% between five and six days, and only 5% will
be away for more than 21 days.
Foreign demand
Portugal, on the other hand, stands out in the choices of
foreign tourists, with eDreams noting that “in recent years, Portugal has
consolidated itself as a destination of choice for many tourists, which is no
exception in 2022”.
France, Germany, United Kingdom, Switzerland are the
countries where the demand for holidays in Portugal stands out, as well as
Spain, with Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Funchal and Ponta Delgada leading the
preferences.
