According to the IRS statistics for 2023 (whose declaration was submitted in 2024), in that year, there were 74,647 households with annual incomes between €100,000 and €250,000, to which are added 6,410 households that earned an amount greater than €250,000, for a total of 81,057.

In both income brackets, there was an increase in relation to the previous year, in which people in the range between 100,000 and 250,000 euros totalled 64,940 and those in the bracket above 250,000 euros were 5,409. Together, these two groups of taxpayers correspond to 1.35% of the total of 6,005,665 who submitted an Income Tax return.

Data on the number of households by income bracket show that the largest groups of taxpayers are those earning between €5,000 and €10,000 gross per year and between €10,000 and €13,500, levels where there are, respectively, 1,036,514 and 1,112,802 households.

Before these values, there is still a group of 690,372 who reported incomes of less than €5,000 gross per year, with this number reflecting an increase of 1.48% compared to the immediately previous year. According to Federal Revenue statistics, in 2023, there was a 15.88% drop in the number of households with an income between €5,000 and €10,000 per year compared to the 1,232,199 taxpayers who fell within this range a year earlier.
