Entitled "The Return of Supercars", this
exhibition has been in preparation for over a year and brings together
"ten unique models", which promise to leave "any car fan
dreaming".
"The theme of supercars represents one of the strongest
automotive passions. It moves people and makes hearts beat faster", said
the president of the Museu do Caramulo, Salvador Patrício Gouveia.
Following the success of the "Supercars"
exhibition in 2019, the museum wanted to return to the theme, but "with a
truly special, exclusive alignment that would show cars that were totally
different from the first exhibition".
Moving mountains
"It was necessary to move mountains to bring these
engineering and design gems together under one roof, but we managed to fulfil
this mission, bringing together in this exhibition some of the most iconic
models from the main luxury and competition brands", he stressed.
According to Museu do Caramulo, this temporary exhibition -
which will be the biggest this year - "shows visitors an evolution of the
supercar segment".
The "headliner" is "a very rare Ferrari Monza
SP2, part of the new 'Icona' segment launched by the brand and only available
to selected customers", the museum said, adding that this supercar has
"a modern aesthetic that intends to reinterpret a design classic" and
was inspired "by the 1950s barchettas that were driven to victory in
international motorsport".
"The result is this magnificent car, which seems
sculpted by the wind, capable of delivering 810 hp and whose presence at this
exhibition will be one of the few opportunities for the public to see the model
live", he stressed.
Also on show at the exhibition will be "iconic models from
the 90s, including the Lamborghini Diablo VT, the Jaguar XJ220, the iconic
Porsche Carrera GT and the Porsche 918 Spyder".
The exhibition “O Regresso dos Supercars” will be on display
at Museu do Caramulo until September 18.
