The Serra Fair has come back stronger than ever, with
the decision to merge innovation with tradition through 18 themed spaces with
an entertainment program fit for the whole family.
The Serra Fair opens its doors to the true Algarve and
invites you to travel back in time. The star of the fair is the medronho which
is a traditional fruit brandy from Portugal which the Municipío de São Brás de
Alportel cites as having had relevant socio-economic importance at the
beginning of the 20th century and a strong connection to the mountains – Serra
do Caldeirão, hence the festivals name and the fairs emphasis on the traditions
of the people of the mountains.
The Fair’s new addition is the youth stage and other
entertainment as well as identification bracelets for children. Additionally,
artist Joana Rocha’s “the plastic will bloom” will be present as they focus on
being a more eco-conscious fair as well as the decision to make the fair 100
percent accessible through the City Council’s renewal of the partnership with
Casa de Repouso e Saúde de São Brás de Alportel and Clínica SAN with accessible
circuits and parking.
As well as the main stage, some new stages have been
added to the fair which includes the Sonoridades Stage, Sabores Stage which
will showcase delicious gastronomy as well the Medronho site. Additionally,
there will be an Equestrian arena as well as the new ‘Youth’ stage which will
be the centre stage for new musical projects from the region.
Queen Tribute
Taking to the main stage on 28 July, there will be
D.A.M.A, followed by the Queen Tribute Show on the 29 July, Carlão on the 30

most similar to the original which is greatly received by audiences across
Europe as they fill the squares.” The group of talented musicians consists of
Giuseppe Malinconico, Kim Marino, Paolo Barbieri and Sebastiano Zanoto whose
ethos is to offer an exciting experience by recreating as faithfully as
possible a concert which captures the golden years of the legendary Queen by
