In a statement on the evolution of the accommodation sector
in June this year, the National Statistics Institute (INE) also highlights
that, compared to June 2019, the growth registered by the Czech (+61.6%),
Danish (+50.8%) and Romanian (+30.9%) markets was also significant.
Regarding the decreases in June compared to the same month
of 2019, INE states that the largest were recorded in the Brazilian (-20.8%)
and French (-13.1%) markets.
The British market (with 22.4% of total overnight stays from
non-residents in June) decreased by 0.6% compared to June 2019, according to
the INE, adding that overnight stays from German guests (12.0% of the total)
decreased 4.7%.
By regions, INE states that there were increases in
overnight stays in all regions in June compared to the same month of 2021, with
the Algarve concentrating 31.2% of overnight stays, followed by the Lisbon
Metropolitan Area (24.5%), the North (15.5%) and the Autonomous Region of
Madeira (11.7%).
