In a notice published on the IPMA website, the institute informs that today "at 21:20, an earthquake of magnitude 4.5 [Richter] was registered at the stations of the Mainland Seismic Network, whose epicentre was located about 120 kilometres South-Southwest of Faro".

According to the information available so far, the earthquake "did not cause personal or material damage and was felt with maximum intensity III/IV [modified Mercalli scale] in the municipalities of Faro and Lagoa [Faro]", adds the IPMA.
