The Czech presidency has invited artists from each of the 27 EU countries, who will work during the day on Wednesday, with the inauguration taking place in the late afternoon, said the London-based artist.
Initially a mural where opponents of the communist regime wrote messages, the mural became a place where admirers wrote or painted tributes to the British musician, one of the four founding members of the Beatles, after his murder in 1980.
Despite efforts to remove it, the mural remains a tourist attraction.
A graduate in Painting from Lisbon University's Escola Faculdade de Belas Artes, Hugo Lami completed an MA in sculpture from the Royal College of Art in London and has developed a multifaceted oeuvre of painting, sculpture, multimedia installation, performance and digital art.
He has been exhibiting in galleries and institutional spaces since 2014 and in 2018 produced a public sculpture in Ermioni, Greece.
In 2019 he received the Audience Award in the VIA Arts Prize, created in 2015 by the embassies of Portugal, Spain and Latin American countries and open to artists living in the UK inspired by Ibero-American culture.
