Fernando Almeida was commenting to Lusa agency on the recommendation of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) for the use of masks in pharmacies, public transport and airports, maritime terminals and metro and train networks.

“I think [this recommendation] is important and this is part of what we have always called the new normal. And it's not just because of Covid-19. There is also the flu, there are other viruses, the respiratory syncytial virus. Therefore, it is for a better prevention capacity", said Fernando Almeida.

Therefore, he continued, “in environments where we suspect that there will be many people at the football stadium, or a trip on a bus, or train, naturally we advise, especially people with disabilities, and older people, to wear a mask”.
