Thirty-two of the 58 reservoirs monitored had, at the end of
September, water availability below 40% of the total volume, while three had
values above 80%, according to data from the National Water Resources
Information System (SNIRH).
On the last day of September and compared to the previous
month, there was an increase in the volume stored in two river basins and a
decrease in 10.
Barlavento (with 9%) and Lima (with 22.3%) basins had the
lowest amount of stored water at the end of September, according to SNIRH data.
The storage averages for the month of September are in the
Barlavento and Lima basins of 55.5% and 53.2%, respectively.
The Sado basins (34.7%), Mira (35.5%), Cávado (35.3%), Arade
(37.9%), Oeste (45.2%), Tejo (46.6%) , Ave (49.3%) and Douro (49.8%) also had
lower water availability at the end of September.
According to SNIRH data, the Guadiana (60.9%) and Mondego
(62.7%) basins had the highest levels of storage at the end of September.
The September 2022 storages by watershed are lower than the
September storage averages (1990/91 to 2020/21), except for the Arade basin.
Each watershed may correspond to more than one reservoir.
