“We have already demonstrated the ability to organize
first-rate events. Portugal and Spain are ready to host, together with Ukraine,
the 2030 World Cup. We want a championship for peace, to show the best of
sport, but also the best values of Europe”, wrote the Portuguese prime
minister on Twitter, a message that was also published by the president of the
Spanish government.
The two heads of government published each other's messages.
Ukraine will accompany Portugal and Spain in a joint bid to
organise the 2030 Football World Cup.
“The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and the Royal
Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have incorporated Ukraine in the bid for the
2030 World Cup. The two associations communicated their intention to UEFA,
which immediately expressed its full support”, stressed the bodies led by
Fernando Gomes and Luis Rubiales.
“The coordinating committee of Mundial2030, led by António
Laranjo, will now include representatives of the Ukrainian delegation. The
candidature of Portugal, Spain and Ukraine will meet the deadlines set for the
submission of their specifications to FIFA. We believe that the world football
family will support this initiative”, they concluded.
