In a statement, the Council said that as part of the event,
which will take place on Saturday, and to “guarantee the safety of participants
and spectators”, traffic cuts will be made on several roads in Cascais,
Alcabideche, Carcavelos, Estoril and Malveira da Serra (Sintra).
On Friday, the traffic cut will take place between 5:00am
and 12:00am in Baía de Cascais and Marina, namely on the D. Luís I promenade,
Avenida D. Carlos I, Avenida dos Combatentes da Grande Guerra , Avenida Rei
Humberto II de Itália (between roundabout CCC and Marina) and Avenida da
República.
On Saturday, Estrada do Guincho, until the roundabout of Rua
da Torre (from 07:00 to 02:00), Estrada do Guincho, from the roundabout of Rua
da Torre to the Oitavos (from 09:00 to 02:00).
The National Road 247, N247-5, Avenida Nossa Senhora da
Assunção, Estrada de Vale Cavalos and N9-1 in Malveira da Serra will also be
closed to traffic between 07:30 and 16:00.
According to the press release, several roads will also be
cut in Estoril, Alcabideche and Carcavelos.
On Sunday, between 00:00 and 15:00, the cut will be at
Passeio D. Luís I and Avenida D. Carlos I and Avenida dos Combatentes da Grande
Guerra in Cascais Bay.
The event, the 2nd edition of Ironman Portugal Cascais 2022
and the 5th edition of Ironman 70.3 Portugal Cascais 2022 [which take place on
the same day], starts and ends in Cascais, and will also pass through Sintra,
Oeiras and Lisbon.
