Humberto Delgado, in Lisbon, handled 56.9% of the total number of passengers (2.4 million), registering an increase of 6.9% compared to January 2024, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). Faro airport grew by 6.1% to 309.9 thousand and Porto airport accounted for 22.4% of the total number of passengers handled (949.6 thousand), an increase of 2.1%.

Funchal's airport infrastructure was the third with the highest passenger movement in January 2025, having surpassed Faro airport. In total, in January, Funchal airport handled 330 thousand passengers, an increase of 9.3%.

Looking at the national panorama, there continued to be a historical maximum in the monthly value, “with an average daily disembarkation of 65.6 thousand passengers being recorded in January 2025, a higher value than that recorded in January 2024 (61.4 thousand)”, concludes the statistics office.

France was the main country of origin and destination for flights, having recorded an increase in growth in the number of disembarked and embarked passengers compared to January 2024 of 6.5% and 1.9%, respectively.

Spain and the United Kingdom ranked second and third as the main countries of origin.
