Asked in the Parliamentary Health Commission about his
position regarding PPPs in hospitals, Manuel Pizarro, said: “Any decision that
the Government would take today on launching a PPP for the clinical management
of a hospital would take four to five years to materialise”.
“A different thing is the use of PPPs for the construction
and maintenance of hospital infrastructures and there, I confirm that we
maintain this intention not only in relation to Eastern Lisbon, but in the new
project for the central hospital of the Algarve, in relation to which I hope
that during 2023 we will have specifications that allow for the launching of this
tender process”, he said.
