Contacted by the Lusa agency, the Aachen police, who were alerted to the incident by local residents, refer to a statement issued on Wednesday together with the Aachen Public Ministry.

According to the document, the victim was the target of “extreme violence” on the night of Saturday to Sunday. As a result of “intense investigations”, a 32-year-old man of German nationality, but without permanent residence, was detained “preventively” in the city of Aachen.

“The two men, who already knew each other before the crime, belonged to drug trafficking networks,” the authorities add.

“The 32-year-old is accused of insidiously killing his acquaintance. Investigations into the motive and weapon used in the murder are still ongoing”.
