"After eight years of public service, the police dog
that created the most smiles in the hearts of children, had completed his last
shift, at Centro Escolar da Nazaré".
This is how the Public Security Police (PSP) began a tribute
note, published on social media, to Donatello, an 'agent' who "ends as he
began his operational activity: making children happy and making his teammates
proud."
'Don', as he is affectionately addressed, "is a
Rottweiler breed dog, born in 2014".
"From his first steps we knew that he was a very
special dog and different from everyone else. Fun and calm; playful and
affectionate; and with a unique ability to interact with children".
Donatello, "despite ending an important active stage in
his police life here", will continue to be linked to the Cinotécnico Operational Group of the Special Police Unit | GOC-UEP. Now, he will enjoy, work
in a "more relaxed way, with some well-deserved retirement".
"A HUGE THANK YOU to Donatello and his handler and life
partner, Principal Agent Paulo Quental, for the exemplary way in which they
carried out their duties".
