“During the summer season, which starts on March 25th and ends on October 28th, Iberia booked more than 730,000 seats with Portugal, 18% more than in 2019, and, in August, the busiest month, scheduled 79 weekly frequencies, 25% more than in 2019”, highlights Iberia, in a statement and shared by Publituris.
Iberia's summer offer also brings back the routes from Faro and Ponta Delgada to Madrid, the first of which will run between June and September, while the operation to the capital of São Miguel will take place between July and September.
In the case of Faro, the operation will have three flights a week, moving to a daily flight in August, which will be operated by Iberia Regional/Air Nostrum, in a CRJ1000 aircraft, with capacity for 100 passengers.
In July, Iberia resumes flights to Ponta Delgada, in the Azores, an operation that will also have three flights a week until September, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, the route being operated on an A320 aircraft with capacity for 180 passengers.
In the information disclosed, the airline indicates that these summer routes “complement the regular operation of Iberia from Portugal with direct flights from Lisbon, Porto and Funchal to Madrid” and that it will have six flights a day from Lisbon, 26 frequencies flights a week in Porto and three flights a week in Funchal, this route becoming daily in August.
“Iberia recently added Funchal to its regular route map. This destination started as a summer operation, but last winter it consolidated its operation throughout the year”, explains the airline in relation to the Funchal operation.
In addition to the operation to national territory, Iberia also indicates that, this summer, marks the recovery of the entire “range of pre-pandemic flights” of the airline, with an increase of 2% compared to 2019 levels, which will be 5% for the year as a whole.
“Specifically, it will offer around 280 weekly flights to 18 destinations in 16 countries in Latin America”, adds Iberia, indicating that, in the high season, it will fly to Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Lima, Mexico, Quito, Montevideo, Santiago do Chile, Rio de Janeiro, Guatemala-El Salvador, San José, Panama, Havana, Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico and Caracas.
The airline will also return to Washington DC and San Francisco, in the USA, where it has also planned to increase flights to Dallas and where it will also fly to New York, Miami, Boston and Los Angeles.
