In a statement, the GNR explained that this inspection action on commercial establishments, which took place within the scope of the “Portugal Semper Seguro” campaign, aimed to prevent tax evasion and fraud.

“The actions focused on selling products to the public subject to the Tobacco Tax (IT) and the Tax on Alcohol and Alcoholic Beverages (IABA) without paying the special taxes to which they are subject and in disagreement with the rules of sealing and stamping established by the legal regime of Special Consumption Taxes”, explained the GNR.

The GNR said that this operation had the collaboration of the Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) which, within the scope of its powers, detected three administrative offenses for non-compliance with general and specific hygiene requirements, with a commercial establishment being closed, without specifying in which location, and two crimes were detected for illegal exploitation of gambling.
