The Minister of Internal Affairs, José Luís Carneiro, has announced a slight increase in general crime in 2022, compared to 2019, however, serious crime has decreased by 7%.

“If we compare the general crime figures [from 2022] with 2019, we see that there is a slight increase of 2.4%. But, we found that there is a decrease of more than 7% in serious crime”, he revealed.
José Luís Carneiro shared with journalists some of the figures from the Annual Internal Security Report (RASI ) of 2022, which will be made known next week.
“Serious crime reduced more than 7% and there were 12% fewer robberies and thefts compared to 2019”, he added.

You all in Portugal should feel good about this. Here we are on the 86th day of the year and there have been 130 mass shootings in the USA. Not 130 shootings, 130 mass shootings. There have been hundreds of single shootings also.
