"The PSP appeals to all citizens who, daily or casually, use electric scooters, to do so with respect for other users of the public road, whether for their own safety or for the safety of others", reads the Facebook post from the force.
The PSP thus reminds that scooters must circulate on cycle paths or, when these do not exist, on the carriageway.
On the sidewalks, only "children up to 10 years old, who do not put pedestrians in danger", can circulate.
This week, Paris banned the use of electric scooters in the city. Lisbon, on the other hand, opted, given the number of complaints, to define new rules for use, something that has already had some effect, according to the vice-president of the Lisbon City Council, Filipe Anacoreta Correia, although it is still "early" to evaluate, since , the new regulation is only about 60 days old.
Today I clocked a guy on a scooter doing 80km per hour between Luz de Tavira and Olhao. He was overtaking traffic down the middle of the road and finally disappeared into the distance. Is there a speed limit for this mode of transport?

Do the car drivers know their code of road rules? Like stopping for red light! Or giving pedestrians way when on a pedestrian crossing? I'm in favour of clear rules but please no double standards.
And yes, if you wear a helmet and have a drivers license than you can ride an electric step that goes 80 kmh!
