Traffic fine authority without mail service

The National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), the entity responsible for deciding and collecting traffic fines, was without mail service for more than six months last year.

This prevented most drivers from being notified of the amounts to be paid or the additional sanctions applied to them during that period, according to a report by Público.

This is recognised by the ANSR itself in the Annual Report on Internal Security (RASI) released less than two weeks ago and referring to 2022, with the fact that ANSR has been without postal services “for more than six months”.

In 2021, ANSR was also without mail for several months, according to the RASI of that year, but none of the reports mention the reason for this. Contacted by PÚBLICO, ANSR guaranteed that there were no delays in contracting CTT services and justifies the delays as being “budgetary difficulties” and “the need to obtain financial authorisations”.

Nick, do you assimilate world news. A mass shooting is 4 or more people killed or injured and so far this year the US has had 146 separate incidents and last year we closed with 656. Couple that with the brutal politics to include blatant racism, daily rhetorical vitriol and outright lies by arrogant people in power, everyday for the past 6 Trump on tv and destructive tornadoes and/or hurricanesappearing in the middle of the night without warning now in most states: anyone that has the means wants to move and the people and Portugal are a very good country. A few overdue fines that will take your morning in court to have readjusted isn't anything much to complain about these days. Yes the mail should be constant but it's not as bad as worrying everyday if you, your kids or friends will get your body parts completely disintegrated by an AR-15 rapid fire war rifle in a country where any 18 y.o. can buy this weapon and openly carry it around WITHOUT a background check, PERMIT or training. It's the wild west here so now you don't have to wonder why the influx; even the mail won't bother them for the relief they get moving from the US; be grateful for what you have, fix what's broken and move forward.
