In an interview with Belarus 1 state TV channel, Deputy Secretary General Grigory Logvinov of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has stated that the bloc is planning to move away from the US dollar and switch to settling international trade in the member states’ national currencies. The process will be long and complicated, though, because, as Lognivov remarks, “the dollar as a world reserve currency is too deeply imbedded.”
