They should be made to stay in the usa like trump is keeping other countrys people out of his

Why would this concern Portugal? We retired in PT in Spring, 2024 not ever thinking our country would be stupid enough to reelect the Orange Horror.
Lesson learned.

Many Americans are quite happy living in countries where censorship rules, so long as they are not censored. As for Americans living abroad, good riddance and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Love the Trump photo. Biased much? Find the worst photo you can, then try to push the idea Trump is causing the push of Americans to come to Portugal.
But there's a problem with your logic. Biden was in power for all of 2024, and every year since covid US visa applications have gone up.
2025 will be the year you can put this on Trump.
You're journalists. It's important to be accurate, honest and not be biased.
Do better. And if you don't post my comment, which points out facts, you are further exhibiting bias. Just tell the truth. That's all readers ask.

Stephen Aldous, The US accepts 1/.2 of all the immigrants in the world.
The US has not stopped legal immigration in any way, it is blocking illegal immigration and removing criminals from the country. All countries should remove people who live there illegally, came without a visa or clearance as a refugee, and certainly they should remove criminals damaging the country they live in.
Instead of hating Trump, European countries should duplicate these policies per immigration. Nothing has caused more turmoil, crime, terrorism or other negative issues than unrestrained immigration in Europe.

Tony, Did Europe let the door hit the US in the ass, twice, when American 18 year olds were signing up by choice to go die in Europe freeing it of it's own psychotic World Wars, twice started by European leaders? 600,000 Americans died freeing Free Europe, twice, in less than 30 years. Veterans from those wars are still alive.
And why would anyone want to live in any society where censorship is policy? You sound like you approve of this?
Americans accept in more immigrants than any other country on earth each year, and have for over 100 years. A half of all global immigrants land in the US.
Maybe a history lesson, as well as a check of current statistics, is in order.
In the end, ask yourself: why is America the place every immigrant wants to go?
