Once submerged machines collect the CO2 absorbed, allowing carbon-capture ponds to be reusable. Dr. Braden Tierney, from Weill Cornell Medical College, told The Guardian “The project takes advantage of 3.6 billion years of microbial evolution,” when talking about advantage in simplicity of using microbes.
Volcanic CO2 absorbing microbe
Scientists have discovered a microbe living on the Italian island of Vulcano, near the city of Palermo, that can absorb CO2 “astonishingly quickly” and that can sink in water.
