The food collection campaign took place in 2,000 commercial areas in 21 regions of the country.

"The amount of products donated once again attests to the solidarity of the Portuguese who, despite the inflationary context and the difficulties that affect many families, adhered to the campaign", said a statement from BA.

"Our word is of gratitude to all those who accepted the invitation of the Food Bank of their region and donated time, as volunteers, or food", said the president of the Portuguese Federation of Food Banks Against Hunger, Isabel Jonet.

The collected food will be distributed, starting this week, to 2,600 social solidarity institutions, which, according to BA, will deliver "to around 400,000 people with proven food shortages, in the form of baskets or prepared meals".
