The protest in Lisbon has local accommodation owners coming from various tourist areas of the country, with the majority dressed in blue vests, with a message of appeal: "Don't kill local accommodation".
Part of the group of protesters entered the Assembly of the Republic, where they delivered a petition that draws attention to the measures that harm the sector included in the More Housing program, which will now be discussed in the specialty by parliament.
This protest action was promoted by the Local Accommodation Association in Portugal (ALEP), which promoted the initiative as a national mobilisation "All to the Assembly of the Republic", so that the sector is united in this fight.
“The objective is to highlight the overwhelming impact that the measures proposed by the Government in the Mais Habitação package will have on our lives, on the economy and on tourism in the country”, informed ALEP.
The Assembly of the Republic is today generally debating the Government's measures to combat the housing crisis, as well as 13 opposition diplomas.
Approved by the Council of Ministers on March 30, the More Housing program includes measures such as the forced lease of vacant houses, the suspension of new local accommodation licenses or the end of golden visas.
One of the solutions proposed by the Government is incentives for renting, which include greater restrictions on local accommodation.
