The Autonomous Region of Madeira will be under a yellow warning at least until midday on Thursday due to wind, rain and rough seas, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
In the Madeira archipelago, the yellow warning for rain, with forecast of showers, sometimes heavy and occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms, starts at 3 pm in the mountainous regions, on the South Coast and North Coast, and at 6 pm on the island of Porto Santo.
As for the wind, the warning starts at 3 pm throughout the archipelago. All finish at 12:00 on Thursday.
On the north coast of Madeira, the yellow warning will also be active from 9 am due to rough seas, with waves from the northwest measuring 4 to 4.5 metres expected.
Sea agitation warnings extend to the entire Madeira archipelago and will be active until 12 pm on Thursday.
Due to this meteorological situation, Porto Santo Line, the concessionaire of the maritime line between the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo, which uses the ship Lobo Marinho, decided to bring forward the trip scheduled for 9:30 pm departing from the so-called Ilha Dourada on Wednesday to 6 pm.
As for Thursday's trips, trips scheduled to depart from Funchal at 8 am and from Porto Santo at 8 pm “will be cancelled due to the bad weather conditions forecast for Porto Santo”, the concessionaire announces on its official page.
To remedy the situation, Porto Santo Line offers extra trip alternatives on the following day (Friday, May 2) with departures from Funchal at 8 am and 7 pm and returns from Porto Santo at 12 pm and 10:30 pm.
