easyJet cabin crew are today taking part in the third day of a strike scheduled for late May and early June, taking place over a total of five days while accusing the carrier of "precariousness and discrimination".

"The cancellations are undeniable: eight flights in Faro, 40 in Lisbon and 30 in Porto. It is undeniable and we do not understand why, if the company understands that the adhesion will be great, it does not move forward with a concrete proposal. The workers' proposal is well-founded, is based on the current operation and importance of easyJet in Portugal", said the president of SNPVAC, Ricardo Penarroias, to Lusa.

According to the president of SNPVAC, the company assumed that the impact of the strike would be 100% and, therefore, cancelled flights in advance, with only the minimum services being fulfilled.

"In terms of negotiations, we are still at an impasse. Faced with the strike notice, the company decided that it does not want to sit at the table with us", he said.

Ricardo Penarroias indicated that the union and the company will only sit down at the negotiating table when the strike period ends.
