"The virtual collection points were created to facilitate the delivery of orders, improving and streamlining the entire process between users and couriers", according to Notícias ao Minuto.
This function, explains the company, "will be available during the summer, allowing users to request everything they need during the bathing season".
Here are the locations of the virtual Uber Eats 'pickup points' on the beaches:
North: Viana da Castelo, Vila do Conde, Matosinhos, Espinho and Aveiro;
Centre: Sines, Figueira da Foz, Nazaré, Peniche, Ericeira, Costa da Caparica and Aveiro;
South: Faro, Lagos, Portimão, Albufeira, Vilamoura, Almancil and Vila Real Santo Antonio;
Islands: Funchal, Ponta Delgada and Angra do Heroísmo.
And what about all the litter those people will leave on our beaches?
Another non thought out plan for an already obese society

James, this is not a problem - the Portuguese throw their rubbish everywhere and in regard to beaches, it is the expat community who organises volunteer groups to clean up beaches. Everyone is happy.

Not sure how this scheme turns out.
Even if people are responsible and take their rubbish away from the beach area, will they just deposit it into the nearest available bin?! We see how quickly the bins overflow in the summer season, and then the seagulls come along, pick apart all the packaging and spread the contents around.
