The president of Motoclube from Faro, José Amaro, told Lusa that “expectations are always high in relation to the Faro rally”, which lasts until Sunday.
“We hope it will be a good concentration, as in previous years”, said the president of the Algarve motorcycle club.
José Amaro clarified that the limitations are related to the need to protect dunes in an area that is part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. The organisation disagrees with the decision.
Since Wednesday, “a lot of people have arrived” and registrations are “proceeding normally, as in previous years”.
José Amaro also warned all participants, residents and visitors to the Algarve to be careful on the road and avoid accidents when travelling to the venue and within the region.
“The appeal that I make and that is always made every year, due to the number of motorcycles that are circulating on the road to Faro, whether from Portugal or abroad, is that they be as careful as possible”.
