The operation involves the purchase from Fliptrel Portugal of the entire shareholding of two companies, Cascadeinvest and Sunseasand.
The Cascade Wellness resort reopened in 2019 after undergoing extensive restoration and expansion works, which took two years, involving an investment of seven million euros. Part of the total cost of the works was financed by Portugal 2020.
Located on the top of the cliff of Ponta da Piedade, in Lagos, and a short distance from D. Ana beach, the 5-star Cascade Wellness Resort has a hotel with 108 rooms and suites (with areas of approximately of 45m2), 58 apartments and 4 villas; three restaurants and two bars. There are also three swimming pools, one of which is sand; meeting rooms with a capacity for 500 people, including a 350 m2 multipurpose room, and a kids club.
With a clear focus on the wellness component, the resort also has a spa consisting of five treatment rooms and a heated swimming pool, a gym with a complete range of state-of-the-art equipment and two tennis courts.
Blackstone reminds the Competition Authority that in Portugal, “it has stakes in companies present in various sectors, including construction materials, software development, environmental services, educational content, LPG, energy, optical industry, insurance and technology and hospitality, namely in the Algarve region, through the operation of a 5-star tourist resort in Vilamoura that operates under the Domes Lake Algarve brand”, which was purchased by Blackstone in 2017.

So direct foreign investment to make better infrastructure is frightening? I don't think so. They want a return on investment. They don't want to steal your culture.
