“Being back at the Open is really good. I love the course, it's one of the best in Portugal, and I'm looking forward to the tournament starting. In 2022 I had a great classification, sixth place, so my goal this year is to do even better and continue to dream of victory”, commented Ricardo Melo Gouveia.

Ricardo Santos, 41 years old, is returning to the course designed by the Seve Ballesteros in Óbidos, after his last appearance in 2020, the year in which he reached 24th place, and says he is “looking forward to playing at home again”.

In Óbidos, Santos hopes to “play at his best level and achieve the best possible result”, in a tournament that “will serve as training and preparation for the rest of the season on the DP World Tour”.

Among the main figures of the Challenge Tour, the Portuguese Open will bring to the Royal Óbidos Golf Resort two former Portugal Masters champions, the Spanish Álvaro Quiros (2008) and the British Steven Brown (2019), the French Ugo Coussaud, number two in the rankings, and young Martin Couvra, 20 years old, who on Sunday won the Spanish Challenge as an amateur.
