The air carrier said in a statement sent to the Lusa agency that the two new direct connections are between Funchal and Boston (United States of America) and between Funchal and Toronto (Canada).
The new air connections “join the connection between Funchal and New York, a route with excellent results”, it reads.
Azores Airlines states that “it will maintain the current offer of direct flights between Funchal and New York, as well as flights to Canada (Toronto) with a stopover in Ponta Delgada [Azores]”.
“Direct flights between Funchal and Boston and Funchal and Toronto start in June and run until September”.
According to Azores Airlines, “flights are already available in the system and tickets can be purchased at the airline's points of sale (physical and online) and at travel agencies”.
The president of the SATA Group, Teresa Gonçalves, who recently visited the Madeira archipelago, highlighted in the statement that “the reinforcement of air operations between North America and Madeira follows the success of the existing connection to New York”.
Teresa Gonçalves also highlighted the success of the air operation between the two Portuguese archipelagos, noting that, this year, the Azores Airlines operation between Madeira and the Azores “is extremely positive”.
“The focus on direct flights between Madeira and North America results from the success of the operation between New York and Funchal”, said Teresa Gonçalves.
