The National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), the National Republican Guard (GNR) and the Public Security Police (PSP) launch, tomorrow, October 31st, a new Road Safety Campaign.
According to a statement, one will start at 1:30 am at the EN-10 Access to the Carla Sacramento Athletics Track, Amora, and the other, from 3:00 am, at the access roundabout to the A21 in Ericeira.
Taking place between October 31st and November 6th, "the campaign aims to alert drivers to the risks of driving under the influence of alcohol".
The GNR recalls that one in three drivers killed in road accidents has a blood alcohol level equal to or greater than 0.5 g/l and three in four of these drivers have a level equal to or greater than 1.2 g/l.
The campaign will consist of:
- ANSR awareness raising activities on the mainland and the regional administration services of the Autonomous Region of the Azores and the Autonomous Region of Madeira;
- Inspection operations, by the GNR and the PSP, with a special focus on roads and accesses with high traffic flow and in accordance with the National Inspection Plan 2023, in order to contribute to reducing the risk of accidents occurring and to the adoption of safer behaviour by drivers when driving under the influence of alcohol.
- Awareness-raising actions will take place simultaneously with inspection operations in the following locations:
November 1st, at 1:30 am: EN-10 Access to the Carla Sacramento Athletics Track, Amora;
November 1st, at 03:00: Roundabout access to the A21 – Ericeira;
November 2nd, at 8pm: Rua da Trindade, Porto;
November 3rd, at 4pm: EN333 – Soza and EM591-2 – Ponte da Vagueira, Aveiro;
November 6th, at 9pm: Largo de Camões, Faro.
